Madonna has given her blessing to an Italian nun who has recorded a copy of her hit “Like A Virgin.”
The megastar took to social media to back Sister Cristina Scuccia, who has recorded a version of the 1984 hit ahead of the release of her album next month, reports The Local.
The 26-year-old Ursuline nun won Italy’s version of “The Voice” earlier this year.
In a Twitter post, Madonna wrote, “Sisters for Life! #touchedfortheveryfirsttime.”
She also took to Instagram to post the message “Like A Virgin? #bitinghard,” along with a Photoshopped image of herself beside the singing nun.
The nun’s recording is not without its critics, who claim the song is inappropriate.
Italy’s Religious Information Service described the decision to record the song as a “reckless and sly commercial operation.”
Like Madonna, Scuccia has recorded a video for the song that’s set in Venice.
The original song was a No. 1 hit in Italy.
