MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) — A Merrill man was injured after a one vehicle crash Saturday night in the Town of Corning. Lincoln County deputies say the 55-year-old male left Highway 107 at Highway FF and struck a utility pole.
When a Deputy arrived, he found the truck up against a tree and power lines down. A witness told the Deputy the truck was traveling north on State Rd 107 and it neither stopped nor slowed before it left the roadway and struck the power pole. The vehicle had no other passengers.
Emergency workers had to wait for the power to be shut off before they could remove the driver from his vehicle. He was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he was listed in critical condition in the ICU as of Sunday night. He was cited for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as a repeat offender.
The Town of Corning Fire Department and First Responders assisted at the scene.
