Russia’s Severstal Sells U.S. Plants for $2.3 Billion

OAO Severstal, the Russian steelmaker controlled by billionaire Alexey Mordashov, agreed to sell two plants to Steel Dynamics Inc. and AK Steel Holding Corp. for $2.33 billion, marking its exit from the U.S.

Steel Dynamics will buy Severstal’s plant in Columbus, Mississippi, while AK Steel will purchase the factory in Dearborn, Michigan, Severstal said today in a statement.
