City alcohol tax revenues up from 2014

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Alcoholic beverage revenues in the city of Jonesboro were down in the month of April compared to last year, but year-to-date sales are up.

The city collected $34,971.11 in sales tax revenues during the past month.

Those reporting the largest dollar amounts were Buffalo Wild Wings, 1503 Red Wolf, which submitted $4,538.26; Cregeen's, 201 S. Main, with $2,503; and Skinny J's, 205 N. Main, with $1,650.30.

Despite those numbers, revenues were down $1,258.53, or 3.47 percent, compared to collections in April 2014.

The year-to-date collections, however, are up 10.75 percent from the same time last year. So far this year the city has collected $138,197.43. That's $13,415.14 more than the 2014 year-to-date total of $124,782.29.

While revenues overall were up, several restaurants reported significant losses between 2014 and 2015 including Godsey's Grill, 226 S. Main, which reported $713 in revenues, down 44.6 percent from last April; Fuji, 2810 E. Highland, which was down 51.56 percent to 267.62; and RidgePointe Country Club, 2311 Ridgepointe, which reported $359, a 39.26 percent decrease from April 2014's $591.
