BASF SE Chief Executive Officer Kurt Bock faces a quandary: delivering growth to investors as slowing demand in Europe and China hits its business -- and possibly profit targets for next year.

“They are unlikely to achieve those numbers unless the macro environment recovers dramatically,” said Geoff Haire, an analyst at HSBC Holdings Plc. “The world is a very different place” since those numbers were put in place, he said.
