Relief, rescue team rushed to site of Muri train accident in UP

Railways has rushed in relief and rescue team to Sirathu in Kaushambi, after a train derail incident this afternoon in the neighbouring district in the state.

Allahabad: Railways has rushed in relief and rescue team to Sirathu in Kaushambi, after a train derail incident this afternoon in the neighbouring district in the state.

Eight bogies of Jammu-bound Muri Express derailed between Sirathu and Atsarai railway stations and one of them overturned, reportedly killing one person and injuring six.

Top officials of the North Central Railway (NCR) Zone, headquartered here, have rushed to the spot. A relief train and medical team have also been sent to the site of the mishap for carrying out rescue operations, officials said.

According to NCR Public Relations Officer Amit Malviya, General Manager of NCR, Mahesh Mangal and DRM of Allahabad Division, VK Tripathi along with other officials have left for Sirathu, about 65 kms from here, soon after a relief train and a medical team was sent to the site of the incident.

"The incident took place at about 1347 hours between Sirathu and Athsarai stations, where eight bogies of the Ranchi-Jammu Tawi Express derailed", Malaviya said, adding, the "accurate information regarding deaths and injuries were awaited at the zonal headquarters".
