Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) has launched its own video streaming device, the Vudu Spark. The stick is available for sale only through Walmart's select retail stores and over its website, as the retail giant takes on Amazon's Fire TV Stick, Google's Chromecast and Roku's Streaming Stick.

Walmart has officially priced the streaming device at just below $25, which is about $10 below Chromecast and $14 below Fire TV Stick. Meanwhile, Walmart has also offered a limited time promotion offer worth $25, which makes the device as almost free. Walmart will provide Vudu Spark customers credits worth $25 over a period of five months.

However, Vudu Spark can only stream videos from Vudu.com, a Walmart website that rents full-length movies and TV shows over the Internet to television. Whereas, Chromecast or Roku can stream videos from online-video streaming services like Netflix, Hulu or HBO Go.

The Vudu Spark supports HDMI 1.4b with Wi-Fi connectivity option of 802.11 (b/g/n, 2.4GHz). The device can display videos with resolution of up to 1080p. A customer just has to plug the device into HDTV's HDMI port and connect to WiFi in order to enjoy Vudu service.

WMT is currently trading at $88.64, up $0.13 or 0.15%, on the NYSE.
