Fundraising gala planned

The HealthAlliance Foundation, Kingston, which supports the programs, facilities and services of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, will honor the accomplishments of three community leaders at its Tulip Ball April 25. The annual fundraising gala, to be held at the Lazy Swan Golf and Country Club Village in Saugerties, will honor Dr. James P. Corsones. In addition, Barbara Connelly Cohen will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and Robert Tonner will be presented with the fifth annual Community Service Award.

Corsones is a hospitalist at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley with more than 32 years of medical experience. He is involved with a number of community organizations, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kingston and Kiwanis Club of Kingston.

Cohen has volunteered for and served on the boards of numerous local organizations, including the Kingston Auxiliary of HealthAlliance Hospital.

Tonner, chief executive officer of Tonner Doll Co., Wilde Imagination Inc. and Effanbee, is a supporter and benefactor of many local not-for-profits. He is the president of the Kingston Uptown Business Association and serves as the second vice chairman of the HealthAlliance Foundation’s board of directors.

Scholarship applications accepted until April 1

The Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, Kingston, is accepting applications until April 1 for its youth scholarship to provide financial support for a high school graduate who displays leadership working for LGBTQ equality.

Applicants must be: residents of Orange, Dutchess or Ulster counties; a graduating high school student who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or straight ally and has been accepted to a two- or four-year accredited college, university, vocational or technical school.

Synagogue celebrates 150th anniversary

Congregation Agudas Achim, Kingston, will celebrate its 150th anniversary with a dinner March 8 at Seven 21 Media Center, 721 Broadway, Kingston. Cocktails at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m.

The Continuity Award will be presented to Barbara Blas and Albert Spada will receive the Humanitarian Award.
