German benchmark DAX index drops 0.6 pct

The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday dropped by 0.6 percent and closed at 11,867.37 points.

As Athens still has to find a way to address its debt issue, investors at the stock exchange were concerned, according to local analysts. The blue-chip index lost 72.21 points.

Commerzbank AG rose by 2.3 percent. Deutsche Bank AG advanced by 1.37 percent. Deutsche Telekom AG gained 0.86 percent. SAP SE climbed by 0.29 percent and Daimler AG went up by 0.24 percent.

Muenchener Rueck AG, a reinsurance company lost 1.94 percent. Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft, a personal care company, slipped by 1.8 percent. BMW AG St dropped by 1.79 percent. The utilities company RWE AG St slid by 1.75 percent and adidas AG went down by 1.6 percent.

The turnover stood at 4.05 billion euros (around 4.34 billion U.S. dollars). Daimler AG was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 369.38 million euros (around 395.98 million U.S. dollars). Endit
