Michigan-based Domino's Pizza makes its return to Jackson

JACKSON, MI -- It's been seven long years for fans of Domino's in the Jackson area, but the Ann Arbor-based pizza chain has returned and hopes to add another location to the fold.

The new store, at 1230 Francis St, opened in January and is owned by STA Management. Ronnie Asmar is an operations supervisor for STA Management, which owns 61 Domino's franchises across Michigan.

Asmar said they are looking to open two more Domino's franchises in the Jackson area with the hope of getting the second up and running in 2015.

"Right now, we're looking for real estate in two areas," he said. "Looking to put one in East Jackson by Michigan Avenue and U.S. 127, and another in the I-94 and West Avenue area."

In 2008, Domino's closed the 3138 E. Michigan Ave. and 400 W. Prospect St. locations in Jackson. Pizano's Pizza and Subs now call the Prospect Street building home.

This franchise replaced one of Jackson's fallen pizza joints, Happy's Pizza, which closed in late 2013 in the same location.

"The first month or so was real crazy," Asmar said. "We've settled in the last week or so, but we got off to a fast start."

Asmar said the location has 20-25 employees, but always has its eyes on growing.

"For the most part we are always looking to hire," he said. "We have a lot of high school and college students who work part-time hours."

The store has hours from 10:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 10:30 to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday.
