LAS FLORES – A week after a narrow loss to rival Mission Viejo, No. 7 Tesoro took out its frustration on Dana Hills.

Tesoro dominated both sides of the ball in a 52-12 South Coast League victory Friday night at Tesoro. Tesoro (7-2, 2-1) gained 337 yards, scored on eight of its first 10 drives and held Dana Hills (1-7, 0-2) to 44 yards in the first half.

Anthony Battista scored the first two touchdowns for Tesoro, a 3-yard reception from Devon Modster and a 1-yard run, for a 14-0 lead midway though the first quarter. Modster finished 17-of-25 passing for 249 yards and two TDs, all in the first half.

Dana Hills’ only first-half touchdown came on defense when Tesoro fumbled a snap and Carter Hadley picked it up and ran 22 yards for the score.

Tesoro responded four plays later with an 8-yard touchdown run by Graeden Sharpe for a 21-6 lead and never looked back. The touchdown capped the first of six consecutive scoring drives for Tesoro.

Ten receivers caught passes for Tesoro, including two touchdown receptions by Jake Smeltzer.

Nine players had at least one rushing attempt for Tesoro, including a 10-yard touchdown by Matt Buoncristiani in the second quarter.

Justin Matlin had field goals of 30, 40 and 35 yards to round out the scoring for Tesoro.

On defense, Tesoro used tight coverage in the secondary and strong pressure up front, highlighted by two sacks by Jake Hudson.

Connor McCloud scored the lone offensive touchdown for Dana Hills with a 69-yard run late in the third quarter.
