Stage Stores Inc. (SSI) reported a first quarter loss from continuing operations of $0.27 per share Tuesday morning, compared to the loss of $0.38 per share last year. Revenues declined to $369.31 million from $372.04 million in the prior year. Analysts expected a loss of $0.28 per share and revenues of $379.92 million.
The company still expects full year EPS to be between $1.20 and $1.28. The consensus estimate is for EPS of $1.29.
Stage Stores declined throughout the first 2 hours of trade Tuesday, before settling into a range. The stock closed down by 2.24 at $16.50 on the highest volume of the year. Stage Stores has been losing ground for the past 2 1/2 months and sank to a 6-month low.
