Srinagar: A fierce encounter, which broke out between militants and security forces in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours of Thursday, has ended.
According to latest reports, one terrorist has been killed in the gunbattle while the security forces are trying to confirm the presence of other terrorists in the area.
A soldier has also sustained injuries in the ongoing encounter, as per reports.
The security forces launched an operation in Bazpora area of Kupwara early today following information about presence of militants there, a police official was quoted as saying.
The ultras opened firing on the security forces, triggering a gunbattle after the latter retaliated, the official said.
