Larenz Tate is being sued by American Express for almost $60,000, according to the latest report by TMZ. The Chicago native owes American Express exactly $57,912.85. Documents obtained exclusively by TMZ show that AMX has made several attempts to collect the credit card debt from Larenz Tate, but have been unable to collect the money.

Some speculate that the Menace II Society star has spent all of his money trying to impress the ladies, though Tate has managed to keep himself out of controversy and out of the tabloids for the most part. Close associates say that Tate is faithful to his wife and is incredibly serious about his craft.

As noted in a previous Inquisitr article, Larenz Tate is an accomplished actor who confirms his passion for acting on his Facebook page.

“Whether in a mainstream film or cult classic hit, I try to stay true to my personal mission of striving for excellence. As an actor, writer, and activist, I apply that same dedication to every aspect of my life.”

The rather large debt to AMX has fans trying to figure out how he could have hiked up such a bill with American Express.

“Now, everybody knows American Express don’t play.”

“why would you spend almost $58k in one month with no way to pay and you’re not dying? Don’t use a charge card if you want to carry a balance.”

Larenz Tate grew up with his two brothers on Chicago’s West Side, before moving to Los Angeles with his parents, where he landed a role in the Twilight Zone: The Series. After his appearance in the Twilight Zone: The Series, he accepted roles in several televisions series, such as The Wonder Years, 21 Jump Street, Family Matters, Matlock, and The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.

Tate’s roles in 1990s gangster movies, such as Menace II Society and Dead Presidents, solidified his place as one of the most popular and most talented black actors in Hollywood at the time. Larenz Tate went on to please his fans in timeless movies such as Love Jones, co-starring Nia Long, and in the biographical movie Why Do Fools Fall in Love as Frankie Lymon, alongside Halle Berry.

Fans believe the long gaps between movie and television roles could be a factor in Tate racking up such a large debt on his American Express card. According to IMDb, Tate Men Entertainment actor Larenz Tate is currently filming White Water, and has two more upcoming projects in the works.
