Dynamos doubled their winning streak to two matches with a surprisingly comprehensive victory over second-placed Loopers.

Loopers took an early 3-2 lead and looked ready to shake off their recent indifferent form.

However, Dynamos stunned them with a 6-0 run to go up 8-3 and then won the next three rubbers all 2-1 to make the match safe at 14-6.

The final score saw Dynamos victorious 17-10.

Melinda Auld (6-1) and Peter Jaccoud (6-2) found some timely form for Dynamos, with good support from Maurie Poole (3-5).

Dynamos are now two wins clear of last-placed Grippers with only two rounds remaining.

None of the Loopers could break even, with Mark McAulay (3-4), Michael Wood (3-5) and Pauline Welfare all below their best.

The teams each won a doubles rubber 2-0.

Grippers, after an unlucky 13-12 loss last week, repeated the unpleasant dose on themselves when they faced Charolais.

Things were looking up when Grippers jumped out to a 4-1 lead and midway through the match still held that margin at 8-5.

Charolais slowly closed the gap though, and going into the two doubles the score stood at 10-all.

Grippers faced the doubles with trepidation, having lost all four games last week to go down by one.

This time they grabbed the first doubles rubber 2-1 to hold a 12-11 lead going into the last.

Their luck ran out there, with Charolais taking both games, 11-6, 12-10 to steal the match 13 games to 12.

Sean Jenkins, with a perfect 6-0, was the hero for Charolais, who have leap-frogged Loopers into second place, while Eric Joyce recorded 2-4 and Linda Kappos 2-6.

The teams each won a doubles but Charolais’ three games to two edge was the difference.

In a match where just a bit of luck would have got Grippers home, Grady Danaher finished at 4-2, Lou Kappos 4-3 and Sabrina Langer 2-5.

Grippers, with a bye in the last round, need to upset top team Mejor this week and hope Dynamos lose both their matches by big margins.

This will see both teams tied on 24 points and force a play-off for fourth spot.

Mejor increased their competition lead courtesy of the bye.

The Lithgow Association is set to host a visit from Blayney Table Tennis Club on Saturday June 6.

Play will commence at 10.30am and run to approximately 3pm at the Old Trades Hall (down the lane next to Waratah Dental in Railway Parade).
