Avnet Memec has best quarter in four years

The performance of the distributor is evidence of the business momentum in the UK electronics sector.

“It seems like the brakes have been released for many companies,” said Chris Shipway, country manager for Avnet Memec.

“We’ve just finished our best quarter for four years, the business activity was remarkable,” said Shipway.

It seems the new business is being driven by new projects as well as existing products.

“What is significant is that we are seeing orders on longer schedules,” said Shipway.

According to Shipway, the market in the UK is pretty buoyant at the moment and “there is no sign of it stopping,” said Shipway.
