SACRAMENTO, Calif. — McClatchy Co. (MNI) on Friday reported a loss of $11.3 million in its first quarter.

The Sacramento, Calif.-based company said it had a loss of 13 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for severance costs, came to 10 cents per share.

The media company and owner of The Kansas City Star and Wichita Eagle posted revenue of $257.2 million in the period.

The company’s shares closed at $1.53. A year ago, they were trading at $5.96.
