Jurors have been taken to the scene of an alleged assault which left a student with a gash to his hand and head.

Shane Burford is on trial after denying he was the one who left student David Brady with what were described by the prosecution as “distressing”.

He has admitted a charge of common assault in respect of a separate incident earlier in the evening but said that was limited to punches.

The prosecution say the serious injuries to Mr Brady, from Pontypridd, would have been caused with a glass or bottle.

They say those injuries were caused by the 21-year-old, who is from Somerset. He denies grievous bodily harm and wounding.

After the site visit the jury heard from Peter Cro, who was working at Cardiff's Glam bar on May 9 when the alleged incident happened.

Mr Cro said he saw both Burford and Mr Brady being brought out of the area where the incident is said to have taken place.

He said Mr Brady was covered in blood and staff originally thought the most serious injury was to his head.

Mr Cro told the court all glasses at the venue are plastic but that beer and wine is served in glass bottles.

He said when he saw Mr Brady he had glass shards on his T-shirt.

The prosecution case is expected to finish on Thursday.

The trial continues.
