RTI International Metals, Inc. Elects David Hess, Former President of Pratt & Whitney, to Board of Directors

RTI International Metals, Inc. (NYSE: RTI) announced today that the Company’s Board of Directors has elected Mr. David Hess as a new director, effective immediately.

“Dave will add valuable perspective to our Board of Directors,” said Dawne S. Hickton, Vice Chair, President and CEO. “We appreciate his willingness to serve as a director and look forward to benefitting from his 35 years of broad experience across the aerospace industry.”

Mr. Hess retired as President of Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation, in January. Prior to that, he was President of Hamilton Sundstrand, the United Technologies division where he began his professional career in 1979. Before becoming President of Hamilton Sundstrand, Mr. Hess headed the company's Aerospace Power Systems business segment.

In 2012, Mr. Hess was Chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association, serving as a voice for the industry during the challenging congressional budget sequestration of that year. He currently is a member of the board of Cytec Industries Inc., a New Jersey-based specialty chemicals and material technology company. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Hamilton College and a bachelor's and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Hess was awarded an MIT Sloan Fellowship in 1989, receiving a master's in management in 1990.
