Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard Do New York: ’19 Kids And Counting’ Stars Embrace Big City

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard of 19 Kids & Counting had a very busy week this past week. The Dillards were in New York doing some media ahead of their wedding airing on TLC, and they also revealed the gender of their first baby. It wasn’t all show-related business during the trip though, as Jill shared lots of fun updates with fans from other activities they did throughout the week. What were they up to during their trip?

Derick and Jill’s wedding will finally air Tuesday night on TLC, and they shared this week with their 19 Kids & Counting fans that they are expecting a baby boy next spring. When they weren’t doing media interviews, Jill and Derick took in some of the best activities NYC had to offer, and it seems they had fun.

The 19 Kids stars had a chance to meet Monica Potter of Parenthood while at the NBC studios, and during another point in the trip, Derick shared a photo of their “date night” where the Dillards took in a Broadway show. Derick even added the hashtag “#lovemywife” and the two did look sweet and very connected throughout the trip.

Another Instagram post from Jill Dillard showed some of what the 19 Kids & Counting stars had for dinner during their last night of the trip. They hit the Himalayan Yak restaurant in Queens for some Tibetan and Nepali food.

This had to be a fun outing for them that brought back many memories. As Jill and Derick’s fans know, Dillard was in Nepal at the time the couple first connected, and Duggar traveled there to meet him in person for the first time. Though Jill has said she had some aversions to hot foods during her first trimester, it seems she’s been able to move past that and enjoy some variety again.

During the media whirlwind, Jill and Derick shared a lot about the pregnancy so far. As Today notes, Jill hopes that their baby boy will be just like his dad, a man she says is “a man of character” and “a gentle giant.” Derick says he hopes their baby is as compassionate, sweet and tender-hearted as Jill is.

Dillard also revealed that she was hard on herself in the early stages of the pregnancy because she couldn’t do much due to the nausea, but it seems that Derick fully supported her and the two make a very strong team. Jill did reveal during one interview that TLC is filming more 19 Kids & Counting right now, so viewers should expect plenty of coverage of the pregnancy. However, she has said they haven’t decided quite yet how much of the birth viewers will see.
