Dentsply International Q3 Profit Down, But Tops Estimates

DENTSPLY International Inc. (XRAY) Wednesday reported third-quarter net income attributable to the company of $75 million or $0.52 per share, down from $80 million or $0.55 per share last year.

Excluding certain items, earnings per share totaled $0.62. On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters estimated the company's earnings to be $0.60 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Quarterly sales slightly increased to$708 million from $704 million in the third quarter of 2013, while analysts were looking for revenue of $725.83 million.

Looking ahead, for the full year, the company now expects adjusted earnings per share in a range of $2.49 - $2.53 versus the previous expectation of $2.47 - $2.55. Analysts forecast earnings of $2.52 per share.
