On February 14th, a complaint of a theft of a motor vehicle was received from a Nipissing St. resident in West Nipissing.

The owner told police that there were people at the house during the evening drinking alcohol.

When the owner went to bed there was one man who had fallen asleep on his couch.

When the owner woke up, he noticed that the man was gone, as well as his truck, which had been parked in the driveway.

The man was identified, and when the officer checked his house, the stolen truck was there in the driveway.

The accused was not located immediately, but was eventually found and charged with theft of motor vehicle.

A 20 year old Garden Village man was released on a promise to appear.

Then on February 23rd, officers were sent to a business located on John St. regarding mischief done to a window.

Upon arrival, police noticed that a plate glass window had been shattered by what appeared to be pellets from a pellet gun.  Two pellets were found at the scene.

There are no suspects at this time but the West Nipissing Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in the hopes of finding whoever is responsible for this type of dangerous behavior.

Within the last few months, the same type of incident has been reported from other local businesses located in Sturgeon Falls.

Overall in February, the West Nipissing Police Service logged 606 calls for service.  Among those were 116 9-1-1 calls, 89 police assistance calls, 25 motor vehicle collisions, to 21 alarms, 12 thefts, five domestic disputes, five drug offences, four frauds and one sexual assault.
