FTSE 100 drops 0.80 pct on Friday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Friday decreased by 0.80 percent, or 56.49 points, to 6,984.43 points.

The London stock index dropped, as worries over Greece continued to weigh on investors' minds.

Associated British Foods's share price increased by 2.64 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Fresnillo, Weir Group, Randgold Resources and Glencore increased by 2.57 percent, 2.43 percent, 1.13 percent and 0.77 percent respectively.

Ashtead Group led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 3.53 percent, followed by Morrison (Wm) Supermarkets (3.39 percent), AstraZeneca (2.66 percent), International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (2.64 percent) and TUI AG Reg Shs (2.44 percent).

The index has gained 8.42 percent so far this year when measured in U.S. dollar. Endit
