9:43 a.m., May 22, 2015--The New Castle County 4-H Exchange Group will host a quarter auction at 7 p.m., Friday, May 29, at the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.

The 4-H Exchange Group is made up of youths between the ages of 14-19 who want to experience a different part of the United States. Ten of the members will travel to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, this summer from June 28-July 3.

Events Stories

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The quarter auction will help them raise funds for the trip and will also help them raise funds to host youths from Steamboat Springs next summer in Delaware, when they will travel around the state and experience diverse cultures.

Items to be auctioned off include baskets from Tastefully Simple, Jamberry Nails and Herbalife.

Upon arrival, participants will receive a numbered paddle and auction items will be on display with a bid price of one, two, three or four quarters.

As the items are presented, if participants want to bid, they will place the bid amount in a bowl and hold their paddle in the air. If the auctioneer picks a participant’s paddle number from the bucket of numbered balls, they win the item, walking away with an amazing product for only 25, 50 or 75 cents or $1.

Paddles are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Doors for the event will open at 6 p.m.
