Ridgewood Police Warn Residents of Recent 'Green Dot Money Card' Scams
A resident received a phone call from someone claiming to be a treasury department agent asking for payments.
Ridgewood police are warning residents of recent Green Dot payment scams after a Goffle Road resident reported on Nov. 14 that he received a call from a person identifying themselves as a treasury department agent.
The caller claimed the victim owed back taxes and advised they would arrest him if he did not pay using “Green Dot money cards,” Ridgewood police said.
Ridgewood police say this is a scam that has been occurring in numerous different forms and government agencies will not request any payment using Green Dot.
