Buckeye Partners cuts 260 workers

Pipeline owner Buckeye Partners L.P., which operates refined petroleum terminals in and pipeline running through Allegheny, Beaver, Indiana and Westmoreland counties, is reducing its work force by 260, a result of the recession.

Spokesman Stephen Milbourne said, "There will be no changes, no closings."

The company, based in Breinigsville, Lehigh County, will take a charge of $30 million to $34 million to cover the 25 percent reduction in personnel, but expects to realize annual savings of $18 million to $22 million beginning in 2010.
