The book drive ran through the month of February, though the efforts have been extended through March 16 because of the winter weather during the last couple of weeks. The group's goal has been to collect 100,000 books for kids - babies to 12-year-olds. The books will be distributed to nine elementary schools, along with child care facilities and community centers nearby, to saturate the neighborhood with books. Each child will get to take 10 books home.
