Responding to the crush of health insurance applications, a third major health insurer whose plans are sold on Covered California, the state’s health care exchange, has agreed to extend to Jan. 31 two payment deadlines for its policies.

On Wednesday, Health Net said it would delay until month’s end the payment deadline for anyone who bought a Health Net plan through the exchange in late December for coverage that began Jan. 1. The previous deadline was Wednesday.

Health Net also will extend the payment deadline to Jan. 31 for anyone who signed up for one of its policies through the exchange by midnight Wednesday for coverage that begins Feb. 1. Previously, that payment deadline was Jan. 28.

Anthem Blue Cross of California will only extend its payment deadline to Jan. 31 for plans that were effective starting Jan. 1.

Kaiser Permanente has said it will extend its payment deadline to Jan. 22 for plans that were effective on Jan. 1.

Only Blue Shield of California has said it would not extend its Wednesday payment deadline.
