ColorUp lamp is a portable color-picking mood light

We've seen color-picking styluses, some that are real and some that are not, but Pega D&E has taken the technology in a different direction: a squeeze-able lamp with a color picker on the bottom that changes the color of the light. Called ColorUp, the lamp is the byproduct of years of development, and though it won't be illuminating any rooms in your home, it makes for a unique portable mood light. We've got a video of the ColorUp lamp switching colors available after the jump.

The ColorUp lamp works the same as any other color-picking device: hold the bottom of the "bulb" up to a color and select it, and the light will change colors to reflect that selection. So, for example, if it is glowing yellow and you want something a bit cooler, you can hold it up to a blue paint chip, as an example, and it will turn blue.

Though shaped like a bulb, the shade portion, if it can properly be called that, is made of a soft silicone that can be squeezed, as shown in the video. The light is powered by battery, making it portable enough to use while out camping, or to take it from room to room.

According to Gizmodo, the ColorUp lamp will be available before 2014 comes to an end, but how much it will cost and when, exactly, it will be available isn't yet known. Until then, check out the video above to see the light in action, and read all the details over at Pega D&E's website.
