Both Eastman Kodak Co. and Xerox Corp. this week rolled out their latest in digital inkjet printing presses.

Kodak is billing its Prosper 1000 Plus as the world’s fastest black-and-white inkjet press, printing at speeds of up to 4,300 pages per minute. The company is particularly aiming the Prosper 1000 Plus at the book publishing market.

Kodak’s Prosper line is assembled in Dayton, Ohio. The Prosper 1000 Plus has a list price of $939,000 and is expected to be available in the fall of this year. Existing Prosper 1000s also can be upgraded to 1000 Pluses, the company said.

Xerox on Tuesday announced its Rialto 900 color inkjet system. Xerox’s Rialto is made at its Impika facility in Aubagne, France, and marks the first product that was developed jointly by Xerox and Impika since its 2013 acquisition of the French inkjet technology company.

Xerox is aiming the Rialto at such color printing applications as advertising mailers and book production. Xerox is taking orders now for Impikas.
