Chipotle may soon be making its way into downtown Euclid.

The proposed restaurant would be a 2,400-square-foot freestanding building on Lake Shore Boulevard Shore Center Shopping Center between the Dunkin’ Donuts and Payless Shoes.

The modern-designed building is expected to have an outdoor patio seating area.

The proposal from Carter Properties and Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. was approved by Euclid Planning and Zoning Commission Jan. 13. The Architectural Review Board will review the plan Jan. 22.

Construction is expected to begin in spring.

Plans call for the parking lot at the shopping center to be reconfigured so only one net parking spot will be lost with the construction of the new building. Overflow parking will be added behind the center.

The city has been partnering with the Euclid Chamber of Commerce on projects in downtown Euclid. Over the next six months, the chamber is organizing meetings with property and business owners to discuss ways to ‘continue to advance the downtown area,’ according to a statement from the city.

These discussions will include exploring the possibility of re-establishing a merchant’s association, creating a special improvement district and designating the downtown area as an entertainment district.
