Butte Literacy Council held its annual Short Story Contest award night April 10 at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Chico. First Place and Honorable Mention winners ranging from kindergarteners to adults read their stories to the audience and received gift certificates and prizes. Sixth grade to adult category winners are (left to right) Haleigh Nicole Payne, Dennis Wilson, Catherine Schofield, Kathi Hiatt, Natalie Harris, Jessica Elm and Malachi McCoy.
