Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) Soared To A New High After Q3 Profit Beat

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) reported third quarter EPS of $1.15 Thursday morning, compared to $1.14 a year ago. Analysts expected EPS of $1.12. Fourth quarter EPS is expected to be between $1.46 and $1.56, compared to the consensus estimate of $1.57. Full year 2015 EPS is now expected to be between $4.92 to $5.02, compared to prior expectations of $4.90 to $5.15. Analysts are expecting EPS of $4.99.

Wal-Mart Stores gapped open sharply higher Thursday and climbed in early trade. The stock advanced further around midday and closed up by 3.74 at $82.94 on the highest volume of the year. Wal-Mart Stores soared past resistance and set a new high for the year.
