Germanwings Cancels Barcelona Flight as Staff Observe Silence

Germanwings GmbH, Deutsche Lufthansa AG’s low-cost carrier, canceled a flight to Barcelona today and resumed other operations after one of its planes crashed in the French Alps on Tuesday.

Germanwings used 11 aircraft from its parent company as well as competitors Air Berlin Plc and TuiFly to cover about 40 takeoffs, it said in a statement Wednesday. Two pilots and four cabin crew perished with 144 passengers on the flight that plunged into the mountainside en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf.
