Mumbai:
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is gearing up to declare the results of the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) re-exams on or before August 17 to meet the Supreme Court deadline.

The CBSE had conducted the re-exams of the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Medical Entrance Test - widely known as AIPMT necessary for admission to various courses in medical and dental colleges across India on July 25, 2015.

The decision to conduct re-exam was taken following a Supreme Court verdict after reports of paper leak in the AIPMT 2015 exam was reported to the country's highest court.

More than six lakh students from all across the country appeared for the re-test at about 1,050 centres for over 3,800 medical seats.

The re-exam was also marred by controversy - first by the guidelines issued by the CBSE for the students to follow a dress code, and later by a SC observation on head scarf - normally used by female students belonging to Christian and Muslim communities.

Though the CBSE relaxed its guidelines before the exams, there was anger in Kerala after a Christian nun was barred from writing the AIPMT 2015 re-exam for her refusal to remove her headsarf.
