If you belong to West Bengal, Odisha or Chittagong in Bangladesh, and plan on stepping outdoors in the next 24-hours, then you may have to reconsider, for the weather isn't going to play in your favour. Instead, it intends to create havoc in most places at the Bengal coast.

The Bangladeshi government has evacuated thousands of people from the Bangladesh coast after a warning was issued of a cyclone, named Cyclonic Komen. It is expected to make a landfall in the country on Thursday. Medical teams, local hospitals and volunteers are all prepared to attend to emergencies while fishermen, trawlers and boatmen have been advised to stay close to the coast.

Here is all that you need to know about this tropical cyclone

1. As per latest updates from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the cyclone was positioned nearly 65 kilometres south-west of Chittagong post and had a wind speed of 62 kilometre per hour, which is now increasing to 88 kilometre per hour.

2. The cyclone is expected to cross the Bangladesh coast at a maximum wind speed of 80-90 kilometre per hour. At this point, West Bengal and Odisha will face strong winds at a speed of 70 kilometre per hour.

3. Tides about three to five foot in height may submerge the lower regions in the Chittagong, Naokhali, Laxmipur, Bhola, Borguna, Khulna, Satkhira and Barisal.

4. Landslides are also feared to take place in the hilly areas of Chittagong.

5. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to hit few areas in West Bengal. Sea conditions are expected to be tough over northern Bay of Bengal.

6. Rains are also expected to occur in the isolated regions of north-east India. Mizoram, Tripura, northern Assam and Jharkhand is expected to witness heavy showers in the next 48-hours.
