A woman is being questioned by police after a 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death at an all-night party.

The 48-year-old is said to have killed the woman after an alleged two day drink and drugs marathon in a flat on Stadium Street, a fashionable road in Chelsea, west London, where properties sell for an average price of £1.5 million.

Police forensics teams were seen entering the ground floor council flat just yards from the route of today's RideLondon cycle race.

Residents described hearing "shouting and arguing" in the early hours of Sunday morning.

One woman, who declined to named, said: "We looked outside- there were police cars everywhere and three people were being talked to.

"There were two older women and a guy. One of the women was being kept away by the police and they were all smoking.

"They were keeping her in one place and they took her away in one of the police cars.

"The guy seemed like he was in shock, he was asking 'how is she'?"

Police were called to the ground-floor flat at around 1.20am and the victim, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at 1.45am.
