Syed Mohammad Wali Rahmani elected Amir-e-Shariat Imarat-e-Shariah of Patna Bihar

Syed Mohammad Wali Rahmani, Acting Secretary General of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Sajjadah Nasheen of Khanqah-e-Rahmani Munger, renowned scholar and former Deputy Chairman Bihar Legislative Council, has been on Sunday unanimously elected as the 7th Amir-e-Shariat of Imarat-e-Shariah Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand.

Election for the new Amir-e-Shariat of Imarat-e-Shariah Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand was held following the death of Syed Nizamuddin, 6th Amir-e-Shariat, on October 17, 2015 after prolonged illness.

Established in 1921, Imarat-e-Sharia Phulwari Sharif is a socio religious organization of Muslims belonging to Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha in particular and other parts of the Indian-sub continent in general. The inaugural session of the Imarat-e-Sharia was presided over by India's first education minister and one of the key figures of Indian Freedom Struggle against the British rule, Abul Kalam Azad.

Syed Mohammad Wali Rahmani was elected 7th Amir-e-Shariat of Imarat-e-Shariah Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand in the meeting of the 851-member Shura Council held at Araria in Seemanchal. During the meeting called to elect the new Amir, Syed Mohammad Wali Rahmani's name was proposed by president of the meeting Abdul Mateen Nomani. The proposal was unanimously seconded by all the members present in the meeting.

Son of Syed Minnatullah Rahmani, 5th Amir of Imarat-e-Shariah Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand and one of the founders of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Syed Wali Rahmani was serving as Naib Amir since 2005 because of the poor health of Syed Nizamuddin.

He was the member of Bihar Legislative Coucnil from 1974 to 1996, and also served as Deputy Chairman for two terms.

Besides his activities through various community and political platforms, Syed Mohammad Wali Rahmani is also the brain behind Rahmani-30, which provides free coaching to poor students and prepare them to appear for IIT-JEE.
