SAINT JOHN, N.B. -- The defence called a forensic computer expert to testify today at the trial examining the murder of New Brunswick businessman Richard Oland as it begins its 12th week.

Geoffrey Fellows was asked to look at the use of three computers in Oland's office in Saint John where the body of the 69-year-old businessman was found on July 7, 2011.

Oland had suffered 45 blunt and sharp force wounds to his head, neck and hands.

His son, Dennis Oland, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder.

Earlier in the trial, a witness for the prosecution said all activity on Richard Oland's computer stopped shortly after 5:30 p.m. on July 6, 2011, when Dennis was visiting his father.

The defence has said Dennis Oland will testify at the trial.
