Parrikar to place Agusta scam facts before Rajya Sabha

NEW DELHI: Choppergate is likely to whir in Parliament for a while with the government planning to place a detailed chronology of the controversial deal along with documents and facts in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
As the government-opposition standoff over the controversial VVIP chopper deal continues, the matter is likely to be debated in the upper House as part of a short duration discussion and defence minister Manohar Parrikar will reply.Parrikar on Sunday said he will place details of how and when necessary clauses and provisions were relaxed to favour AgustaWestland.
Attacking the Congress, the defence minister said, “Those who received kickbacks will not leave behind proof for us to prosecute them, but we will have to prove it (that kickbacks were received).”
He further said, “It is for us to prove everything now. Since the issue would be placed in Parliament, I would not like to speak in detail to media. Why was no action taken against the company till 2014? Why was the company not blacklisted by then UPA government?”
