After a battle that spanned for around 18 years, the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur on Monday has finally acquitted actor Salman Khan in the blackbuck and chinkara poaching cases. Salman had appealed before the High 
Court challenging the lower court`s verdict that had handed him one and five years' imprisonment, respectively, in the two separate cases of poaching.

Salman had also spent days in jail in 2007 after he landed in Jodhpur from Mumbai to surrender in the blackbuck poaching case. On August 24, 2007, he lost an appeal against a five-year prison term given by a lower court.

Appeals of Khan against sentence in the two cases relating to poaching of Chinkaras in Bhawad and Mathania was allowed by the high court which acquitted him in both the cases. Justice Nirmal Jit Kaur rejected the plea of the state government against the actor.

December 15, 2005

The Bombay High Court granted interim relief by cancelling non-bailable warrant. Hearing his plea, Justice S C Dharmadhikari granted him a protection period till December 20 regarding the implementation of the warrant.

February 27, 2006

Jodhpur court read out charges against  Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam and Sonali Bendre.

April 10, 2006

Chief judicial magistrate awarded 5 years RI to the actor.

 

August 25, 2007

July 9 , 2014

The Supreme court issued a notice to him on Rajasthan government's plea challenging a High Court decision, which had stayed his conviction in a black buck hunting case. A bench headed by Justice S J Mukhopadhaya asked Khan, who was sentenced to undergo five-year jail term by a trial court, to file his response within four weeks.
