A 50ft whale has been washed up on a beach in Devon.

The remains of the whale were found on Red Rock beach between Dawlish Warren and Dawlish.

The coastguard has arrived at the scene and are putting up a cordon around the dead whale to stop the public getting to close.

In July a young female sperm whale got stranded at Perran Beach at Perranporth, after it swam too close to the beach at high tide and ended up getting stuck when the tide receded.

She later died.

In January six sperm whales became stranded on the east coast in a matter of weeks.
