A male teen who struck a school bus in Dowling while riding a dirt bike earlier this month has died.

Greater Sudbury Police said in a release Monday the 16-year-old succumbed to his injuries in an Ottawa hospital last Thursday.

The collision itself occurred on May 13, shortly after 3 p.m., on a residential street in Dowling.

There were no children on board the bus at the time of the collision and the bus driver was not injured.

The bike rider was initially transported to Health Sciences North, but was later transferred to a hospital in Ottawa to receive additional treatment.

The investigation into the collision is still ongoing but the police will not be releasing the man’s name, as per the family’s request.
