The sister of Stuart Baggs, the former star of The Apprentice, said the family's world had been "shattered apart" following his sudden death.

The 27-year-old entrepreneur, who liked to describe himself as "The Brand", was discovered dead in the bedroom of his home in Douglas, Isle of Man by a friend at 9am on Thursday.

Police later said it appeare to be "a sudden unexplained death with no criminal element to it at all."

On Wednesday, Baggs, who was famed for his catchphrases and liked to describe himself as "The Brand", is understood to have finished work, gone to the gym and arrived home by 10pm.

A co-worker told the Daily Mail they had seen him at Tesco at 9pm on Wednesday, while another had spoken to him on the phone at 11pm.

Mr Baggs' sister Charlotte, 30, wrote online: "Today my dearest brother Stuart Baggs gained his wings. To say we are all shocked and devastated is an understatement.

"Love him or hate him, he touched many people's lives from his TV antics to his amazing work with BlueWave Communications.

"This week he unveiled plans that would have revolutionised the industry, now our world has been shattered apart.

"He was the biggest character and will leave the biggest hole behind. Not knowing what or why makes it all the harder. Can't explain how proud I am of him. He was the king of following his dreams and making them happen.

"I love you so much! Rest in peace baby brother."

Baggs ran BlueWave Communications, a broadband service on the Isle of Man, which he founded in 2007.

He had recently launched a new venture to bring 4G to the island.

Lord Sugar, chief judge on The Apprentice, described him as "one of the stand out characters" of the show's 10 years, describing his death as "terrible news".

Inspector Michelle McKillop, of Isle of Man Constabulary, said: "We have examined the body and the area, the location, and there is nothing suspicious at the minute that we can tell has caused his death.

"It looks to us at the minute that it is a sudden unexplained death with no criminal element to it at all."

BlueWave described his death as "devastating news".

Baggs gave an interview to Isle of Man newspapers earlier this week about his latest scheme to bring 4G mobile broadband to the island.

Talking to the paper about his career, he said: "I work, as my hair will tell you, at least 18 hours a day. I sleep for four hours religiously, I would not have it any other way, like Margaret Thatcher."

Baggs, who was born in Plymouth but lived on the Isle of Man with his parents for most of his life, was the youngest Apprentice contestant when he appeared on the show in 2010 aged 21, eventually exiting in the semi-final. The series was won by Stella English.
