Body found after police called following reports of boy, 14, in river
A body has been found in a river after a 14-year-old boy was reported to have entered the water.
A police helicopter and specialist rescue teams were involved in a search for the teenager after being called to the River Erewash in Stapleford, near Nottingham, on Saturday.
Nottinghamshire Police said its underwater search unit had located the body of a young male after responding to a report that a boy had gone into the river.
A police spokesman said: "The force received a call at 3.42pm to say that a boy had not re-emerged at the surface after entering the water.
"Emergency services, including police, fire and rescue and the East Midlands Ambulance Service were at the scene within minutes.
"During a search of the river, the body was found shortly after 5.30pm."
Inquiries to determine the circumstances of the incident are ongoing, the spokesman said.
