A Junior Commissioned Officer of the Indian Army was injured after group of heavily armed militants attacked a camp near the Line of Control (LoC) that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

Official sources said a group of three to five militants barged inside the camp of 3/1 GR at around 6:00 am in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district, about 110 kms from region's summer capital Srinagar.

An oil depot inside the camp has caught fire in the ensuing gunbattle, reports said. Militants also reportedly lobbed grenades at the army camp.

The army air-dropped special commandos near the site of the attack while a massive combing operation has been initiated to nab the terrorists who are believed to be hiding in the area. It is believed that the group of terrorists may be fresh infiltrators who might have sneaked in during the night. The army post is very close to LoC with Pakistan.

Security forces overnight busted a militant hideout in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Several arms and ammunition were recovered in Tuesday night's operation in the Jammu region, police said.

"Troops of 39 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and special operations group (SOG) of state police on Tuesday night busted a militant hideout in Dungi Cheed forest area near Mangnar village in Poonch district," a senior police official said.

"One AK-47 rifle with 113 rounds, Pika ammunition, two IEDs, one Chinese grenade, Pakistani SIM cards and currency notes were recovered from the busted hideout," the police said.
