A shameless takeaway owner has been caught on CCTV dumping a whole freezer by the side of a street in the early hours of the morning.

Council cameras zoomed in on Ali Yurdakurban and an accomplice carrying and then ditching the appliance in August last year.

The owner of Geno’s kebab shop and pizzeria, in St Helens, was fined £757 after he was prosecuted for fly-tipping.

The freezer was allegedly left there to be picked up the following morning by a customer, but it was not collected.

St Helens council’s cleansing department picked it up and summoned the owner to an interview under caution, which he attended last October.

But the shop owner then failed to attend his first court hearing, reports the Liverpool Echo.

He was ordered to pay £370 in fines, £350 in council costs and a £37 victim surcharge.

Mike Petersen, St Helens council’s principal environmental health officer, said: “Fly tipping is a crime St Helens council takes very seriously and we will not hesitate to take action where it is required.

“We are very pleased with this outcome which reflects the hard work of all the teams involved and sends a message out to those thinking of fly tipping that this sort of crime will not go unnoticed and we will be on to you.”
