This is the shocking moment a thug grabbed an elderly woman from behind and pulled her to the ground before he snatched her hand bag and fled.

The victim, who is aged in her 80s, was rushed to hospital after she suffered injuries to her face and knee during the robbery in Thomas More Way, East Finchley.

CCTV footage released by Scotland Yard on Sunday showed the woman was stalked by a man who crept up on before he launched a surprise attack from behind.

Police said they are hunting two men in connection with the robbery which took place shortly after 3pm on March 1 this year.

Investigators said the elderly woman was seen withdrawing money from a bank in Ballards Lane at around 2.30pm before she took a bus to East Finchley where she was then attacked by a man in a woolly hat.
