TV ratings: BET Awards, 'Power' down from 2016
Ratings for the week ending June 25, 2017.
Sunday specials. The BET Awards nabbed 3.8 million viewers, tops on cable for the week but down from last year's 4.5 million. (Viacom says a total of 5.8 million watched on its nine-network simulcast.) And Starz's competing fourth-season opener of Power fell to 1.7 million, down from 2.3 million for last summer's opener.
Summer starts. Non-stop premieres continued with OWN's Queen Sugar (2.3 million same-day viewers Tuesday); NBC's Little Big Shots: Forever Young (7.4 million Wednesday); ABC's Boy Band (a weak 2.9 million) and The Gong Show (3.9 million); NBC's The Night Shift (3.6 million); and Spike's The Mist (684,000) all Thursday.
End of the road. FX's third-season closer of Fargo claimed 1.2 million same-day viewers Wednesday, down from 1.8 million for Season 2's finish. NatGeo's Genius wrapped up with 1 million Tuesday, while CW's The Originals drew 807,000 Friday. And absent their customary Game of Thrones lead-in, HBO's Silicon Valley and Veep finales Sunday dropped by more than half, to 790,000 and 536,000, respectively.
