Sepang to end Lowes’ triple-header

Laguna, Suzuka and Sepang in quick succession…

The Pirelli Malaysian Round of WorldSBK will mark Alex Lowes’ third consecutive race weekend. However, only two of those three are World Superbike events, as the second was the Suzuka 8 Hour race in which the Englishman finished fifth overall.

“It’s been a busy few weeks with Laguna, the Suzuka 8 Hours and Sepang back-to-back, but I’m still looking forward to getting back to Malaysia,” comments the Voltcom Crescent Suzuki man.

“It’s a track I feel I don’t really know, to be honest, missing out on Race 1 last year after getting knocked off at Turn 2 (collision triggered by Loris Baz). It’s a really long track, so I need to re-learn the layout and then try to work hard for a solid weekend.

“We’ve been making some good progress on the GSX-R in recent races, so hopefully the extra experience gained during the 8 Hours and working alongside the Yoshimura team at Suzuka will allow that development to continue. I’m looking to keeping as close to the top six as possible and challenging for two solid races this weekend before we stop for the summer break!”

For WorldSBK in 2015, the move from Laguna Seca to Sepang for the respective ninth and tenth rounds means the shortest and longest circuits are consecutive on the calendar. This year, the Malaysian races are staged in August instead of in June.
